Q6. Is a separate challan required for payment of tax and fee under the Scheme?
No. A single ITNS 289 challan may be used for making the amount payable under the Foreign Assets of Small Taxpayers Disclosure Scheme, 2026 as determined in Form 2.
Q7. What is the due date for making payment after receipt of Form 2?
The amount specified in Form 2 must be paid within two months from the end of the month in which Form 2 is received.
Q8. Is interest payable in case of delayed payment?
Yes. If the payment is not made within the initial two-month period, interest at 1% per month or part thereof is payable for the delayed period.
The delay period cannot exceed an additional two months, failing which the declaration becomes void

Yes. After making the payment through ITNS 289, the declarant is required to electronically submit Form 3 (Intimation of Payment) along with the proof of payment to the prescribed Income-tax Authority. The authority will subsequently verify the payment details and issue Form 4, certifying the payment made under the Scheme.
Q13. Is correction or refund allowed for payments made under an incorrect minor head in ITNS 289?
Any payment made under an incorrect minor head in ITNS 289 cannot be corrected or refunded. Therefore, taxpayers are advised to carefully verify the applicable major head, minor head, and payment details before submitting the challan. Once the payment is successfully made, no request for correction or refund shall be entertained.
Q14. What Assessment Year should be selected while making payment through ITNS 289?
For payments made under ITNS 289, Assessment Year (AY) 2026-27 will be pre-filled by the system and cannot be modified by the taxpayer. All payments under the Foreign Assets of Small Taxpayers Disclosure Scheme, 2026 are required to be made using the pre-filled AY 2026-27, irrespective of the year of acquisition of the foreign asset or the year in which the foreign income was earned.
Q15. What is the maximum fee payable under the Foreign Assets of Small Taxpayers Disclosure Scheme (FAST-DS)?
For cases covered under Table Serial No. 2 of Section 133, the fee payable is a fixed amount of ₹1,00,000, irrespective of the value of the asset, provided the value of the foreign asset does not exceed ₹5 crore.
